If it matters enough to link to, it matters enough to save.

  1. Use the Wayback Machine's "Save Page Now" feature on the URL you care about.
  2. Keep the archived snapshot URL alongside the original when you cite or reference the page - the snapshot survives even if the original goes down or gets edited.
  3. For pages you expect to change over time (not just disappear), check whether the Wayback Machine already has historical snapshots - useful for seeing what a page used to say.
